Title
Geoelectrical Exploration in Karstic Limestones in Zarinabad Cave Area, Khoramabad
Authors
Abstract
This paper is devoted to geoelectrical studies in karstic limestones of Zarinabad cave located in 40 km east of Khoramabad district, western Iran, using electrical resistivity and mise-a-la-masse methods. The karstic limestones of this area have considerable potential in attracting tourists. In order to investigate these zones and thus seek the probable presence of other cavities around them, 16 electrical profiles were designed and surveyed. The CRSP as a reliable array was applied in this study. The Obtained data were then processed and interpreted. After that, electrical resistivity sections as well as Equipotential curves were acquired. The results indicate that the most important anomalies have been appeared at the locations of profile P1 and P2 above the cave. It is also possible that each of the karstic areas contains a number of small and large cavities that are linked together like a beehive. As a result, this area can be converted into a tourism area in the future with the aim of entertainment and boating because of containing high level water.
