Astaneh fault is one of the active faults in Shahrood fault system, which plays an important role in the field of Eastern Alborz. This fault is located in the west of Astaneh village (northwest of Damghan city) and Astaneh valley, near 10 km of southwest of Astaneh, and is seen as two parallel faults along the northeast-southwest direction. This fault in this area has cut the Quaternary alluvial deposits and moved the sideway river channels left-laterally. Due to its proximity to the southern boundary of the Alborz and the presence of quaternary alluvial deposits close to it, it clearly shows the Quaternary youth movement. Seismicity is also concentrated in the Attari part, the middle part of Astaneh, and the piece of chashm.
