Title
Studying post-seismic deformation 2010 RIGAN EARTHQUAKE using InSAR
Authors
Abstract
On 20th December 2010, an earthquake with Mw 6.5 in Rigan, south of Bam city and followingly, on 27th January 2011, an aftershock (Mw 6.2) stroke an area near the first earthquake. In this study, COSMO-SkyMed (from Italian Space Agency, ASI) images are used to investigate the post-seismic deformation following both the earthquakes. The obtained mean Velocity Map by Small Baseline Subset technique reveals a clear right lateral post-seismic signal. The time series of displacement for two of the area located on both side of the fault plane indicate 8mm/year in about 3 months after the earthquake. This may point out that the post-seismic phase is ending and following inter-seismic phase starts with steady stress accumulating. Determining post-seismic source parameters shows that maximum 6 cm slip below the main earthquake rupture (in 14 km depth) can be the mechanism of post-seismic phase.
