چکیده
Irrigated agriculture plays a crucial role in food supply in Mediterranean countries, where ecological conditions are characterized by warm and dry summers with high solar radiation and evapotranspiration rates. A proper knowledge of the effects of irrigation on the spatiotemporal variability of salt-affected soils is essential to assess the magnitude and trends of the soil quality problem and its effects on water quality.
In the scope of SALTFREE project, we aim to develop a framework for the evaluation of the salinization risk in the management scale, using state-of-the-art electromagnetic (EM) technique, in irrigated production systems in the Mediterranean basin. The project consortium is formed by five partners from four countries around the Mediterranean - Egypt, Italy, Portugal, and Tunisia in the scope of ARIMNET2 program.

Abstract
Irrigated agriculture plays a crucial role in food supply in Mediterranean countries, where ecological conditions are characterized by warm and dry summers with high solar radiation and evapotranspiration rates. A proper knowledge of the effects of irrigation on the spatiotemporal variability of salt-affected soils is essential to assess the magnitude and trends of the soil quality problem and its effects on water quality.

The project consortium is formed by five partners from four countries around the Mediterranean - Egypt, Italy, Portugal, and Tunisia in the scope of ARIMNET2 program.
