Title
The simulation of internal structure of a mesoscale convective system over Iran
Authors
Abstract
In this study, the dynamical analysis of a mesoscale convective system (MCS) event that occurred during 13 and 14 April 2016 over the west and southwest of Iran and resulted in heavy rainfall and flood in these areas has been presented. In this regards, the simulation of WRF model with four meshes of 36, 12, 4 and 1.33-km horizontal resolution has been used in the study of some dynamical parameters of this system. So, the model simulations obtained from the innermost domain with the high resolution were used. Results show that the model was able to display some features of the selected MCS such as the horizontal pattern of the MCS including the convective line and stratiform precipitation region, the formation of an elevated layer and its slantwise ascending to the rear of the system, vertical structure of MCS, the formation of a rear inflow jet and its descent to the surface under the influence of cooling processes below the stratiform cloud base.
