Abstract
In this study, using the global GFS model output data with a horizontal resolution of 0.5 degrees for the period of 25 to 26 February 2020, the Q vector and its convergence were calculated using the central second-order finite difference method and the numerical noise arising from high spatial resolution was reduced using a discrete spatial filter. Convergence maps of the Q vector representing the upward motion were plotted and compared with the reported accumulated precipitation maps. The results were in good agreement with the accumulated precipitation values. Regarding the scope of the system activity, it was found that the convergence of Q vector at the level of 500 hPa for the western regions of the country and along the Zagros and at the level of 700hPa for the southern areas of Alborz mountains was more consistent with the observed accumulated precipitation maps.
